The goals of the utility metering program are to identify energy consumption, develop awareness of energy costs and foster conservation efforts at UNL.
Utility metering (for chilled water, condensate, domestic water, natural gas and electricity) is present in most campus buildings that receive our services. In addition, several buildings have meters to measure steam use.
This campus building energy data is collected by the university's Energy Management System through a campuswide computer network or by manually taking readings. This system then utilizes the data for billing, trending, problem identification, and historical use for system modifications, upgrades, etc. On a continuous basis, factors that might indicate meter failure are monitored.
